THE ROAD TO MONACO

You can ride quickly through the Principauté de Monaco, which Monaco is officially called, but then you won’t get to say hello to a real Monegasque, which the inhabitants are called. The principality is geographically surrounded by France, facing the Mediterranean Sea, a few miles from Italy.

Monaco is the world's second smallest country, and has world's highest population density. Monaco is particularly known for its casino, the Casino de Monte Carlo, and for its tax exemption status, and the annual Formula 1 race in Monaco. You should try to get a good look around the small country, with the large marina.

Monaco is 3,5 km long, and is bordered by the French Alpes Maritimes. The principality has three urban centers. The capital Monaco-Ville, residential district of Condamine and Monte Carlo is located northeast of Monaco harbor, and where the famous casino is located. There is a limited production of olives and citrus fruits, but otherwise the predominance of tourism makes that the main source of income.

The area around Monaco has been inhabited since the Stone Age. Monaco’s cliffs rise above the Mediterranean, and have historically been the haunt of many primitive tribes. Even today.
