To many motorcyclists, Liechtenstein is a transit country, bordered by the Swiss Cantons of St. Gallen and Graubünden to the west to the south, and the Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg, in the east. The entire frontier line towards Switzerland flows up along the Rhine. The southern and eastern boundary is marked by mountains around Rätikon in the Alps.
The country measures 24,8 km in length, and is 12,5 km at the widest point. The border with Switzerland is around 41,2 km long, and towards Austria it’s around 36,7 km. Liechtenstein's highest point is Grauspitz, with an altitude of 2,599 meters above sea level.
The highest town,Triesenberg, sits around 886 meters above sea level. The only natural lake in Liechtenstein is Gamprin Seele, which was formed in 1927, by a flood from the Rhine. The climate of Liechtenstein is relatively mild, and often characterized by a southerly wind.
Although it took a while, the women got the vote in Liechtenstein in 1984, and in 1990, Liechtenstein became a member of the UN.
If you are on a motorcycle trip in Europe, find a good little hotel in Liechtenstein, and enjoy a fine evening in the small country.
